A woman's identity in Christ

I want to study the difference between "knowing your identity in Christ" and being "secure in Christ." I wondered if you book helps define this difference? Can you tell me a little more about your book?

Robin’s Response
I've been a faithful follower of Christ since I was 15 years old (I'm turning 50 this year!) and except for one particularly difficult time (which I mention in the book) I've felt secure in my salvation. I've also always been a zealous follower of God who is devoted to his word. Yet, I've also battled insecurity on some level. The book came out of my own personal search for answers. (There are just a few books on insecurity, and I can say from my reading that none of them are written by insecure souls.)

I think insecurity is particularly hard to battle because there is so much shame attached. In Christian circles, we're commonly told, "Just be secure!," or the equivalent of, "Stop being so insecure." Some books even paint insecurity as akin to evil--a self-centered, prideful preoccupation with self.

The book ultimately is about uncovering Satan's whispers (there are charts throughout that contrast Satan's whispers with the word of God), but then learning to turn to God for the answers to those questions, trusting his perfect timing, his goodness (no matter what circumstances I find myself in), his wisdom (He knows what is around every bend), and his protection.

Secure in Heart is also about engaging the battle and letting go of shame. The study guide offers numerous quiet time suggestions, and encourages women again and again to come out of hiding, and talk with other women about their insecurities.
